About David:
Hi! I'm Tiki Dave! In 1984 when I was 11, my eccentric and well funded at the time mother introduced me to traveling by taking me on a year long trip around the world. On that trip, I visited 26 countries. Since then, I have added another 19 and counting to the list, traveling with my wife before kids and now with my two children who are 13 and 16.
My very first official cruises were with my Mom in 1984. We cruised the Yangtze River in China, the Nile River in Egypt, the Greek Islands and the Danube River in Germany. My love for cruising began then.
My more recent cruises have been on Celebrity, Disney, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line. We have cruised with Norwegian 5 times in the last 3 years as my family and I absolutely love cruising together.
My 13 year old son Alec is Autistic and my 16 year old daughter Sarah is Anorexic which certainly add some difficulty to traveling these days but I have become a more patient and informed parent as a result so I'd say I am an expert in traveling with children with special needs. And if you've ever cruised Norwegian with us, you'd know it because Alec is always front and center!
Correlated to my love for the exotic and traveling, my love for anything TIKI began in the year 2000. Since then, I have amassed quite a collection of tiki mugs (200+), Hawaiian and Polynesian artwork, masks, carvings, lights and furniture and when we're not working our other jobs, you can find us in "Tiki Dave's Lava Lounge", our own little paradise at home.
We live in Rancho Palos Verdes (a very quiet suburb of Los Angeles) and both my wife and I are native Angelenos. We love where we live but some favorite destinations of mine in no particular order are: Venice, Italy...Lisbon, Portugal...Paris, France...Roatan, Honduras...Istanbul, Turkey, New Zealand and Kauai, Hawaii.
My top six bucket list destinations as of right now are: Argentina, Tahiti, Vietnam, Chile, Colombia and Panama. I'd also like to take my children on safari in Africa as well as to see Australia and Japan.
